The Planet Discover Local Directory continues to connect local advertisers with local consumers. As a result of ongoing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts, the Local Directory application helps local consumers find advertisers on national search engines. The success of our collaboration with Columbus Dispatch demonstrates the results of this ongoing development.

Search Publisher, the proprietary Planet Discover search platform, includes a sitemap of Local Directory enhanced business listings. By establishing an account with Google you can submit a Planet Discover Local Directory sitemap directly to Google for indexing. This account also allows you to submit specific Web pages to be crawled by Google.

Planet Discover has also implemented default page titles in Local Directory that are optimized for search engines. The default page titles can be adjusted to meet your specific needs. Planet Discover worked with Columbus Dispatch to implement page titles that include business categories and the city name.

The Columbus BizList search widget on the Dispatch home page includes links to featured Local Directory categories. Google follows the links in the widget to index Local Directory business listings.

In the case of Columbus Dispatch, Local Directory results display on the first page of a Google search. For example, the link below demonstrates first-page results for an auto dealer search in Columbus:

The ability to demonstrate Local Directory exposure from the local search on your site as well as national search engines such as Google is a compelling story for potential advertisers.

Generating online revenue requires constant promotion to educate potential advertisers regarding the advertising solutions available to them. The Planet Discover media partner in Miami has implemented a multi-faceted approach to build ad sales momentum and reduce the cost associated with advertising sales through Marketing Center, the Planet Discover self-service interface.

To drive traffic to Marketing Center, this client dedicates significant space on their sites for section-based ad links. Each block of section-based ads includes an "advertise here" link to encourage local advertisers to advertise on their site. These links direct advertisers to the Marketing Center to purchase the appropriate online solution for their advertising strategy.

In addition, their Classified Call Center conducts outbound telesales calls to promote enhanced business listings, ad links and online coupons to potential local advertisers. Advertisers that don't make a commitment during the initial phone call are encouraged to visit the self-service interface in the future to purchase an advertising solution that meets their needs.

Since implementing this program in May, Marketing Center transactions have increased 300% in June and July.
